LaunchemberNovember was a big launch month for two of Intridea's clients:
Homezada premiered their home management software application, giving homeowners an easy interface for managing all aspects of their home and home-related assets. You can read more about how our UX team helped design an intuitive user interface and user flow here on our blog.
The Meeting Board launched their local bulletin application to keep people in-the-know about local events. Working with The Meeting Board team was a great experience; they brought a staggering amount of energy and enthusiasm to the table and we were thrilled to help them launch. A big congrats to The Meeting Board on their release!
Insider Tips: Design
December's tip comes from Jake Mauer, a talented Interface Designer on our UX team:
Utilizing the auto-select and show transform controls options of the move tool have really improved my daily use of Photoshop. Auto-Select layer allows me to directly grab a layer without any modifying keys, and showing transform controls gives visual feedback about which layer has been chosen. You can also use shift+click to select multiple layers.
The Future of Design
Last month our design team headed to NYC for the (Intridea-sponsored) Future of Web Design event. They spent a few days talking with other creative visionaries who had a lot to say about the future of web design. While much of the energy was concentrated around popular topics such as mobile development, responsive design, and HTML5, our crew came back to DC with a slightly different idea of the future. In this month's featured article, Project Manager and User Interface Designer Ted O'Meara put together a post talking about his experience at FOWD and the particular future that he beholds:
The future of web and mobile design is in Rails, Sinatra, Django, and other RESTful web frameworks that can be used to leverage design power across multiple platforms, making it easier and faster (translate: more economical) to design for web, mobile and desktop.

Featured Intridean: Thadd Selden

This month we want to introduce you to an Intridean who was trained as a physicist before he taught himself programming languages during his years as a civilian scientist. Thadd Selden came to Intridea over two years ago after leaving Raytheon where he wrote programs for unmanned vehicles. Today, Thadd runs teams of agile developers across multiple projects and his breadth of experience from astrophysics to nuclear reactor programs to agile development processes accentuates his leadership and management abilities. You can read more about Thadd in his Insider article on our blog.
Where's Intridea?
Our Senior Partners just returned from a trip to China, where they attended the (Intridea-sponsored) RubyConfChina event in Shanghai, and later traveled to Hangzhou where they spent several days with the Intridea East team. You can see pictures from their trip on our Flickr page!
In early January you'll find our UX team in DC supporting UXCampDC, "an unconference" style event that brings people from all industries together who care passionately about creating intuitive, inspiring user experiences on the web.
